Lumo Wallet × Guardian: Secure Crypto On/Off Ramps for Everyone

The gateway between fiat money and crypto is where most people encounter friction. Account setups, verification delays, limited payment methods — the barriers are real. Guardian, integrated into Lumo Wallet, provides a secure, compliant, and frictionless on-ramp and off-ramp for users who want to move between fiat and crypto without the usual headaches.

What Is Guardian?

Guardian is a regulated crypto on-ramp and off-ramp infrastructure provider. It specialises in the fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat conversion experience — enabling users to buy crypto with traditional payment methods and sell crypto back to fiat in a secure, compliant environment.

Guardian's infrastructure is built for reliability and breadth of coverage — supporting a wide range of payment methods and geographies to ensure that Lumo users have a consistent buying and selling experience regardless of where they are or how they bank.

Buying Crypto via Guardian in Lumo Wallet

  1. Open Lumo Wallet and tap "Buy".
  2. Select Guardian as your provider and choose your asset (BTC, ETH, TRX, XRP).
  3. Enter the fiat amount in your local currency.
  4. Select your payment method — card, bank transfer, or supported local methods.
  5. Complete the Guardian payment flow — crypto is delivered directly to your Lumo Wallet address.

Selling Crypto via Guardian in Lumo Wallet

  1. Tap "Sell" in Lumo Wallet and select Guardian.
  2. Choose the crypto asset and amount you want to sell.
  3. Enter your bank or card details to receive the fiat proceeds.
  4. Confirm — Guardian processes the sale and initiates the fiat transfer to your account.

Three On-Ramp Providers: Choice Matters

Lumo doesn't lock you into a single on-ramp. Alongside Guardian, you have access to MoonPay and Transak — three separate providers covering different strengths in payment methods, regional availability, and pricing. At the point of purchase, Lumo shows you rates from all available providers so you can choose the best deal.

This multi-provider model means you're not subject to a single provider's outages, fee changes, or regional gaps. If one provider isn't available in your country or doesn't support your payment method, another likely does.

Security and Self-Custody

Guardian's role is limited to the fiat-to-crypto conversion. Once that transaction is complete, the crypto is delivered directly to your Lumo Wallet address — your self-custody wallet where only you hold the keys. Guardian never has custody of your crypto post-purchase. Lumo never holds it at any point.

The result: every purchase through Guardian ends with your crypto in your control, fully non-custodial, on your device.

Why This Matters for Self-Custody Users

One of the historic challenges of self-custody wallets was the on-ramp problem: you needed a centralised exchange account to buy crypto before you could transfer it to your self-custody wallet. That two-step process added friction, delay, and additional custody exposure.

With Guardian (and MoonPay and Transak) built directly into Lumo Wallet, the journey is collapsed into a single step. You enter fiat, you receive crypto in your self-custody wallet. No exchange account. No transfer wait. No intermediate custodian.

Go from fiat to self-custody crypto in one step.
